1052 Corinthian Mark Installation 2018

Thursday 25th October was a busy night at Liverpool Masonic Hall, Hope Street, with 4 Masonic meetings being held.   One of these was Corinthian Mark Lodge No 1052 Installation.

Everything was arranged and in place; the secretary WBro Stewart Hyde Prov GJD was starting to relax when he found out that the Master Elect was stuck on the M62 somewhere between Leeds and Liverpool.   It was decided to carry on with the meeting and to see if he got there before the end of the risings .If he had not, then rule 78 would apply and another Installation meeting would have to be held within five weeks.

With everyone in place the Worshipful Master WBro Chris Walls, Prov GIG opened the meeting.     The first business after the approval of the minutes was to ballot for joining members.   With the ballot proving successful, the acting DC, WBro Derek Gaskell, PProv GJD admitted the two new members; WBro David Johnson P. Prov G Insp Wks. and Bro George Crawley, who were welcomed into the lodge by the WM.

Still no sign of the Master elect and so the meeting progressed.    The acting DC announced the PGM’s Representative WBro Mel Cross, PGJD and WBro Mike Winterbottom, PGSD who is the PGM’s Special Rep for the Liverpool Mark Lodges.

Salutations were given and the meeting carried on. The next item of business was to appoint WBro Andrew Whittle, PAGDC as the Royal Ark Marion ambassador of the lodge.  Suddenly there was an alarm the Master elect had arrived, much to everyone’s relief.

Once that Bro Hengler had been placed in his rightful chair as Senior Warden, the Worshipful Master, WBro Walls placed the officers for the Installation ceremony.  WBro Syd Ford, PGStdB took over the Senior Wardens Chair and WBro David Anderton, PGJD remained in the Junior Wardens Chair, and WBro David Crowley remained as Inner Guard.

WBro Derek Gaskell then presented the Master Elect, Bro Jason Hengler to the Worshipful Master for the purpose of installation.   WBro Chris Walls then began the installation ceremony, with the inner workings being outstanding.

Once the brethren were back in the lodge, WBro Walls did the presentation of the working tools and Keystone Jewel and then calmly did the address to Master.   Considering the stress there must have been on Chris with the delay and not knowing if the Master elect was going to arrive, it was an exemplary Installation Ceremony.

WBro Derek Gaskell did the address to the Wardens and WBro Stewart Hyde did the address to the Overseers. It was now the turn of WBro Mel Cross, the PGM’s Representative to do the address to the Brethren, which was also to the very highest standard.

With the installation ceremony over WBro Cross offered WBro Hengler the congratulations of the PGM on taking the Chair of Corinthian Mark Lodge and he also congratulated WBro Chris Walls on the quality of the ceremony.  WBro Cross also passed on RWBro Keith Beardmore’s best wishes to all the Brethren.  In return the Worshipful Master, WBro Jason Hengler presented WBro Cross with a cheque for charity which he received with thanks.

With the Lodge closed and the photos taken it was time for dinner and an excellent meal it was too.  This was appropriate because it continued the theme of excellence of the night.    In response to the toast to Grand Lodge, WBro Mel Cross gave his own congratulations to WBro Hengler on obtaining the Chair and again thanked WBro Chris Walls for the quality of the ceremony.

WBro Cross then gave an update on active in the province, which included advertising the Children’s Christmas Party which will be on Sunday 9th December, at Leyland; Liverpool Mark Social on Saturday 26th January at Hope Street and the Liverpool Mark Festival which next year is being hosted by Temperance Mark Lodge No774 and will be held at Woolton Golf Club of 16th April 2019.   Provincial Grand lodge will be held on 1st May 2019 at Southport.

To round off the evening WBro Chris Walls showed off another of his talents by doing the Tylers Toast.  We wish Corinthian Mark Lodge and WBro Jason Hengler good and busy year.
